Just some thoughts on the 2025 AI and tech market
My servers were acting up the other day. To keep my sanity, I threw a 2025 tech market recap stream on in the background.
I'm usually just writing code and building things, not analyzing the macro economy. But a few things they said actually made me stop typing and just listen.
The AI race leveled out
For a while, it felt like OpenAI was going to eat the world and everyone else was playing catch-up.
It doesn't feel like that anymore. I find myself using Claude or Gemini just as much as ChatGPT these days, almost without thinking about it. The playing field leveled out. As someone who builds products, it doesn't feel like a monopoly. It's just a normal ecosystem now.
Quiet consistency over loud hype
All year, people were screaming about crypto on Twitter. So much noise.
When the dust settled at the end of the year, Bitcoin was actually down a bit. Meanwhile, gold was quietly up like 70%.
It reminded me so much of tech products. The loudest, flashiest frameworks aren't always the ones that win. Usually, it's the boring stuff working reliably in the background that actually matters in the long run.
The part that spooked me
The energy talk was sobering.
AI data centers are eating so much electricity right now that companies are seriously talking about putting mini nuclear reactors (SMRs) next to them, just to keep the lights on without crashing the local city grid.
I had to sit back for a second. We went from playing with funny chatbots to needing pocket nuclear plants in a blink of an eye. All this digital code we write has a massive physical footprint.
If you're stuck in the same build loop, start with what RAG actually is when the news gets too loud.
